So you want to know how to get rid of man boobs?

Are you ever apprehensive and nervous to take your shirt off?

Do you wear multiple layers in an attempt to hide your man boobs?

Are you constantly looking for how to reduce chest fat?

Well, you’re not alone. Hundreds of thousands of other men are going through the same things as you. Each and every one of them looking for the same answer – how to lose man boobs. It can be embarrassing, isolating, and you may not know what to do. Don’t worry – it can be fixed.

Every year in the United States over 200,000 men are diagnosed with Gynecomastia.

Gynecomastia is the scientific term for gyno, man boobs, moobs, pa-tits – the list goes on but you get the point.

Gyno is caused by shifts in hormone levels, particularly estrogen and testosterone – in most cases the reason for this shift in hormones is not known. Any research you do on how to get rid of gynecomastia will likely suggest that decreases in testosterone are the root cause of your condition, but what is it that actually triggers testosterone to drop?

Testosterone levels seem to be effected by a wide variety of factors. Including but not limited to: puberty, antibiotics, heart medications, street drugs, alcohol, anti-anxiety drugs, AIDS treatment, antidepressants, chemotherapy, heartburn medications, diet, and more.

 What is Gynecomastia exactly?

Gyno is defined as enlarged male breast tissue due to a hormone imbalance where there is more female hormones than male hormones.  Gynecomastia appears as a firm mass underneath the nipple in either one or both breasts consisting of some combination of glandular and adipose tissue.

This condition is typically self-diagnosable – it’s difficult not to notice when your pecs become swollen and tender.

This might get you to wondering,  “Do I have gyno or is it something else?”

If you’re not sure it would be a good idea to see your physician or an endocrinologist to give you a definitive answer. If you do in fact have gyno there are a few treatment options available. For teenagers and children it’s likely that your condition will go away on its own as part of the natural cycle of puberty – it’s normal, as 70% of boys will experience it at some point during adolescence. Understandably boys at this age are motivated to figure out how to reduce chest fat, and rightfully so. But it’s important to know that this will typically go away over the following years.

For adult men things are a little more complicated. A drop in testosterone could be caused by a number of things, most of which could also be remedied through a lifestyle change – and could very well be your way to get rid of man breasts. That being said, if your gyno has developed over some time, or is quite large, it may not be that simple and you may still be left wondering how to get rid of the moobs. At this point surgery is a common solution for a large number of men – every year some 30,000 men have the procedure. The surgery removes fat and as much glandular tissue as they can from the area in order to lower the risk of recurrence and leave you with a normal looking chest.

But what if you don’t have the normal symptoms of gyno?

Some men may not have clinically diagnosable gyno, but the appearance is still present and figuring out how to lose man boobs is still a priority.

Would you not want to know how to get rid of man breasts?

First and foremost, it’s important to understand that getting rid of man boobs and getting rid of gynecomastia require entirely different treatments.  An individual with gynecomastia has glandular swelling in their breast tissue. As you know surgery will likely be needed to permanently remedy the gyno and get a normal looking chest. Individuals without gyno, who do not have swollen glands, may also find surgery useful to remove stubborn fat, but for most people this shouldn’t be option number one. If you’re just overweight and out of shape burning chest fat and building muscle might be able to fix your entire problem.

So exercises to get rid of man boobs are an option?

Yes, if you have man boobs, exercises will probably benefit you.

And lucky for you finding exercises to get rid of man boobs isn’t all that difficult.

Great – but is there a set of best exercises for man boobs or a specific man boobs workout?

That’s difficult to say. Engaging in exercises that target the muscles of your chest, the pec major and minor, will obviously increase the amount of muscle you have and will give you that more desirable look.  But to say there are exercises to reduce man boobs specifically is a bit of stretch. In order to get a toned muscular chest a multidimensional approach is needed. In other words not only will you need to strengthen your chest you’ll also need to burn chest fat. To do this you’ll need to make a number of lifestyle changes. Adjusting your diet and exercise will likely be the most helpful when learning how to reduce man boobs.

When it comes to exercising to lose man boobs don’t think too much into it. Start slow and find exercises that you are comfortable doing. Don’t like benching? Then don’t do it. There are plenty of other ways to get the job done.

Don’t fall into the trap of focusing strictly on chest exercises – cardio is your friend in this battle too. And you might be thinking “how do you get rid of man boobs if you’re not working your chest.”  Well let’s remember that you have to burn a significant amount of fat before any chest muscle will be visible even if you are doing “the best exercises for man boobs”.

So please don’t be fooled by claims for the best man boobs workout or special exercises to lose man boobs, there is no secret. Be consistent and be patient.

If you’re new to cardio try walking on a treadmill for an hour or two a week. Work up a sweat, make some days a little harder than others, but again don’t over do it. Realize that outside of getting surgery, reducing chest fat is somewhat of a marathon, and definitely not a sprint. It takes time.  Starting too fast or trying a special man boobs exercise plan probably won’t end the way you’re imagining.

When you take your time you’ll learn what does and doesn’t work for you, exercises you like, and “healthy” foods that you may not like. It’s not important what you do or how you do it, but that you actually get it done and learn how to reduce man boobs in the process. Put the days of trying to figure out how to hide man boobs behind you. Take action in getting rid of moobs once and for all.  Exercising to reduce your man boobs isn’t a cure, but it’s a good start.
